I-A-Q #8: People Before Profit

Happy Monday!

Here is an Idea, an Action, and a Question to consider this week.

Idea

During a recent closing, my buyer was supposed to get a golf cart with the sale. The seller didn’t read the contract as it was written and took the golf cart in the move—not knowing it belonged to the buyer.

I could’ve told my buyer, “tough luck,” but instead, I bought them a $15,000 golf cart.

Why? Because people are always more important than profit. In the long-run, the relationships I create are much more valuable than earning a few extra dollars here and there. (And this particular buyer gave me several referrals post-sale because she saw how much I care about my clients.)

It’s not all about the money.

Action

Watch Pace Morby’s “bunnies story” as a keen reminder of the value of putting people first.

Question

When’s the last time you put profit first? How did it work out?

See you next week,
