I-A-Q #7: Accepting Discomfort
Happy Monday!
Here is an Idea, an Action, and a Question to consider this week.
Idea
When I was in college, I spent a summer selling security systems door-to-door in New York City. It was six days on, one day off. The company would drop me off at 10am and come back to pick me up at 7pm. I was on the streets, knocking on doors, mostly getting rejected, all summer long.
At times, it was brutal. But I was motivated—I needed the money to buy an engagement ring for Jeane, my now wife.
To make it through door-to-door sales and to earn enough money to reach my goal, I had to accept discomfort. It’s a mindset that allowed me to persevere through even the most uncomfortable rejections.
To win in business, you have to accept that growth happens in the arms of discomfort. If you can figure out how to handle being uncomfortable for sustained periods of time, your potential has no ceiling.
Action
I’d venture to say there’s something you want to do in your business, but have been too afraid to take action on because you know how uncomfortable it’ll be. Accept the discomfort and take ONE STEP towards accomplishing your objective. (Need a little inspiration? Watch Steve Harvey’s insights on getting out of your comfort zone.)
Question
How would it feel to stop feeling afraid and start feeling brave when it comes to your business?
See you next week,
