I-A-Q #9:  Be a Stand-out Leader

Happy Monday!

Here is an Idea, an Action, and a Question to consider this week.

Idea

To be a stand-out leader as an agent, you need a willingness to hold yourself accountable for the results of others’ actions.

For example:

If my buyer decides to pull out of a deal because the area wasn’t as nice as they thought it was, I don’t blame my client. Instead, I hold myself accountable: How could I have prevented the deal from falling through? Could I have described the area better? Should I have taken additional photos or videos of the neighborhood? Could I have offered more resources on activities or restaurants in the area?

By accepting the fact that I played a role in the problem, I’ll have a better chance of succeeding the next time around.

Action

Take 14 minutes to watch the power of accountability and ownership in Jocko WIllink’s 2017 Ted Talk.

Question

Is there something you should take ownership for that you’ve been blaming on someone else?
