🥇Three Things to Do in January to Be Effective
Happy Monday!
Here is an Idea, an Action, and a Question to consider this week.
Idea
Firstly, Happy New Year!
Don’t you love the possibility of a new year? There’s so much excitement and hope in the air. Of course, excitement + hope doesn’t = effectiveness, but there are things to do that can help you be effective and successful in 2024. And here are my top three suggestions:
Sign up for a course on a topic that’s additive to your goals. Maybe you need help with your mindset. Or perhaps it’s negotiating that’s your weakest link. Think about what’s holding you back from reaching your goal, and see if there’s a course you can take to enhance that skill. (And look out for my first course! It drops soon!)
Read (or re-read) Rich Dad Poor Dad. "Rich Dad Poor Dad". by Robert K. Kiyosaki discusses the importance of financial literacy, the distinction between assets and liabilities, and the different ways wealthy people think about and manage their money compared to those less financially secure. One of the key messages is the importance of investing in assets that generate income, like real estate and stocks, rather than accumulating liabilities that drain financial resources. The book also discusses the value of entrepreneurship and taking calculated risks to build wealth. This book changed my life. If you haven’t read this, let 2024 be the year you do!
Build your discipline. Do you tend to start something with enthusiasm but give up when it becomes challenging? Make 2024 the year you persevere with what truly matters. Success often comes from consistently doing effective things over a long period, even when difficult. Take waking up early for exercise as an example: if you believe rising at 5:30 am is essential for your fitness routine, firmly commit to this schedule. Remember, commitment extends beyond mere willpower. To maintain your habits effectively, consider reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, which offers valuable strategies for habit formation and persistence.
Action
Pick one of the three options above. Choose the one that resonates most. Get started!
Question
What’s one skill that, if acquired, would make your 2024 significantly easier than your 2023?
