How to Lead a Successful Team
Happy Monday! Roar, here.
Here’s an idea from me, an action for you, and a question for us all to consider this week.
An Idea from Me
A team’s success depends on the leader’s ability to both own and delegate. A leader can’t do it all and leave nothing for the team to have ownership over.
I’ve made this mistake.
From the jump, I told a team member every detail on what he needed to do, not leaving space for him to own some aspects of the business independently. The result was more of a robot rather than a proactive, critical-thinking member of the team.
It’s not his fault, but mine.
Like Jocko says in The Dichotomy of Leadership: “When a leader takes too much ownership, there is no ownership left for the team or subordinate leaders to take. So the team loses initiative, they lose momentum, they won't make any decision, they just sit around and wait to be told what to do.”
An Action for You

A Question for Us All
Are you leaving any ownership for your employees or team members to grow?
See you next week,
